What is Print-Ready Artwork?
Print-ready artwork refers to digital files that are correctly formatted and prepared for printing without the need for further adjustments or edits.
When you provide print-ready files, you streamline the printing process, ensuring that your designs come out exactly as intended.
Key Elements of Print-Ready Artwork
File Format: We accept files in formats such as PDF, JPEG, TIFF, and EPS. PDF is usually preferred as it retains the highest quality and preserves vector elements.
Resolution: Images should be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) to ensure crisp and clear printing. Low-resolution images may appear blurry or pixelated when printed.
Color Mode: For full-color printing, use CMYK color mode. Avoid using RGB, as colors may appear differently when printed.
Bleed: Include a bleed area of at least 0.125 inches around all edges of your artwork (see example).
Trim Marks: Add trim marks to indicate where the printed piece should be cut. These marks guide the cutting process and ensure accuracy.
Fonts: Ensure that all fonts used in your artwork are embedded or outlined. This prevents issues with missing fonts when the file is opened on a different computer or printing system.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Low Resolution: Using images with a resolution below 300 DPI can result in poor print quality.
Incorrect Color Mode: Make sure your artwork is in CMYK mode for full-color printing.
Missing Bleed: Without bleed, your design may have white borders after trimming.
Improper File Setup: Ensure that your file dimensions match the final print size, and include trim marks if necessary.
Missing Fonts: Embed or outline all fonts to avoid font substitution issues during printing.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your designs are print-ready and achieve the best results possible.
